Pre-Proposal Deadline – September 08, 2020

Notification: Deadline for NPMTI Pre-Proposals

The deadline for submitting Pre-Proposals for the National Predictive Modeling Tool Initiative (NPMTI) is Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Current research areas are cotton, wheat, and corn. Submit Pre-Proposal to with the subject line: NPMTI Pre-proposal.

The Pre-Proposal is designed to save the applicant time by not filing an off-target Full Proposal. The Pre-Proposal review should take about two weeks.

If the applicant chooses to not submit a Pre-Proposal, registration with the NFO (Networking & Facilitation Office) is required at the following email address:

The entire pre-proposal entry should be no longer than 3 pages, including budget and budget justification, using Times New Roman, 12 point or higher, black colored font with 1-inch margins. All items in the package should be gathered by the Principal Investigator and submitted together as a single, editable MS Word file.

Upcoming Important Dates and Deadlines for Submission of Proposals

September 16, 2020:
Registration ends. Those submitting a Pre-Proposal do not have to register

September 30, 2020:
Deadline for Body of Full Proposal

October 8, 2020:
Deadline for final submission of support documents

NPMTI is funded under the auspices of the USDA-ARS. The purpose of the initiative is to forecast pathogens in annual row crops through post-harvest analysis of diseases in soils and crop residues. Then during the growing season, the initiative will use field-based monitors that will detect air-borne spores.
