How to Get There Press Release

How to Get There

Directions to the Annual Meeting Hotel

1/20/23 – The following are some cost-effective travel suggestions to get from D.C. area airports to the NPMTI Annual Meeting hotel: Holiday Inn, 10000 Baltimore Ave, College Park.

Reagan National Airport is the closest airport to the hotel and the recommended choice. Dulles International Airport is a reasonable alternative.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport is not recommended because options are limited:  rent a car, take a taxi, or take a RideShare service. However, taxis and RideShare services could be very expensive. Depending upon traffic, this could be about an hour ride.

The hotel does not offer a shuttle service, but recommends the use of Washington Webb Sedan & Limo Service. Contact is Kevin Uba, 240-375-3395, washwebblimos@aol.com. Tell him RoxAnn Manley sent you

Our Annual Meeting host, Tim Widmer, offers the following advice on the use of the D.C. Metro. You can also get more Metro information at: https://washington.org/navigating-dc-metro.

From Reagan (National) Airport:

– Follow signs to Metro station (Blue and Yellow lines)

– You can purchase cards or add money to the card at the kiosks before entering.

– Take Blue line towards “Largo” (Yellow line is under maintenance and not available)

– Exit Blue line at “L’Enfant Plaza” (8 stops) and follow signs to make transfer to Green metro line

(about a 30-minute ride)

– Take the Green metro line towards “Greenbelt” station

– Go all the way to the last station, which is “Greenbelt” (about a 20-minute ride)

– Go out of station towards parking lot near taxis and either take a taxi or call RideShare service

From Dulles (IAD) Airport:

– When exiting the terminal you will enter luggage area. Look for signs to the Metro Station

– You can purchase cards or add money to the card at the kiosks before entering

– This will be the Silver metro line. Get on Silver line towards “Largo”

– Exit Silver line at “L’Enfant Plaza” (21 stops) and follow signs to make transfer to Green line

(about a 40 minute ride)

– Take Green metro line towards “Greenbelt” station.

– Go all the way to the last station, which is “Greenbelt” (about a 20-minute ride)

– Go out of station towards parking lot near taxis and either take a taxi or call RideShare service.

Taking the DC Metron system

Taking the DC Metro System is fairly easy. However, you will first either need to purchase a card (which you can do at the kiosks at all Metro stations) or you can download the app (from the navigating-dc-metro website above). You will then need to add money to the card or to the app so that you can ride the Metro. The cost for the physical card is $3 and is nonrefundable but can be used over and over again. The cost for the app (if any) is not known. You can see exactly how much the ride will cost by looking at the table on the kiosk machines or going online. If you are going during a peak time, expect it to cost $6 otherwise it will most likely cost $3.85 one way (transfers do not require exiting and therefore do not add costs).

Going back to the airport

Going back will be the same, except you will be going towards “Branch” on the Green line, exiting at “L’Enfant Station” and then either towards “Ashburn” on the Silver line for Dulles or towards “Franconia” on the Blue line for Reagan airport.

Thank you, Tim, for the detailed instructions.
